Reasons for Shaving Pubic Hair

There are lots of reasons for shaving pubic hair, and with these come lots of different ways of doing it. Why exactly do people make the decision to do it? As there are differing styles, there are also varying amounts of removal, from a simple trim down to a full shave.

In no particular order, reasons for shaving pubic hair would include:

Bikini Line

There's nothing worse than a woman putting on her bikini and seeing hundreds of hairs curling around the edges for the entire world to see. Well, maybe a man wearing a Speedo sporting the same look would be worse.

Either way, it makes sense for the hairs to be trimmed back so this visual invasion of curly pubes doesn't happen - It is your responsibility as a parent to ensure you don't give your kids nightmares.

This is commonly known as trimming the bikini line. Really, it doesn't have to be a bikini, you could also do it if you wear underpants or if your pubes are really long they might be sticking out of your shorts! I hope they're not that long.

The trim doesn't have to be a shave, but that would be most effective as they would take longer to grow back. But many people would just grab the scissors and trim away.

Hygiene

We all sweat, each and every one of us, and those who have a lengthy bush are no different. The groin is notorious for getting sweaty so imagine the unhygienic sweat, germs and bacteria you can build up with all those pubes – even if you shower every day. Even worse, skin irritations and foul odours can result from this build-up.

Biologically, one theory for the existence of pubic hair is to hold our smell (pheromones) which is used to attract a mate. Nowadays, fluffing your smelly pubes at potential mates will get you locked away. So why have them? Shaving them all off is an excellent way of avoiding these unhygienic pitfalls. With a nice shave, you have much less to worry about, or trimmed hair is just as effective.

Aesthetics

The 70s are well over and so is the bushy look. What looks good is a nice neat trim. Shaving pubic hair has become what looks good. There are loads of different designs that you can do as well – we’ve all heard of a Brazilian, a landing strip, etc. – these can all be achieved with a trusty razor.

It doesn’t matter whether you want to get rid of all of it or whether you just want to neaten it up. For men or women, either of these options is aesthetically pleasing to most people. In saying that, there will be some people that like a free growing bush as well. Obviously it depends on who your “audience” is, but you are generally free to choose. Most people enjoy some effort put into how you look down there.

Religion

Believe it or not, but there are certain religions that require pubic hair to be either trimmed or even completely removed.

One of these major religions is Islam – known as an act of Fitrah. This requires that both men and women remove all pubic hair and keep it gone. Among other things, shaving pubic hair at least every 40 days is required. It is recommended that this is done by starting from beneath the navel, on the right hand side. If you do it properly you will be required to go all the way around the back as well!

Trend

Let’s face it, bush went out with the 70s and hasn't really made a comeback (apart from a few times at the White House). Why? Social trends. Having a shaved or trimmed pubic area has become far more popular – it is aesthetically pleasing as mentioned above.

Lately it is even becoming more popular in society for men to sport some kind of second hair-do downstairs. As usual the adult film industry leads the way in what is fashionable. Hairy videos have become a specialty item, and the mainstream shows nothing but shavers and trimmers.

So if you don't do it already, get with the times! There are beauty salons popping up on every main street, with entire rooms devoted to shaving pubic hair, or more easily you can do it yourself in the privacy of your own home.

Clean Soap

This isn't really a very serious reason, but it’s something to consider. Many years ago when I worked in my local supermarket, I was busy stacking shelves when I overheard a kid say to his mum "Mum, can you buy some soap that ISN'T hairy this time?!" A more embarrassed mother I have never seen. Man it was hilarious.

Anyway, that mother could have avoided all the embarrassment in the supermarket, but also the embarrassment in knowing that her son was forced to stand in the shower picking pubes off the bar of soap before he could use it. That is seriously disgusting. So before you assume your teenage son is up to something naughty when he's had a 30 minute shower, maybe you should consider how much of your hairy bush you've left lying around the place. Shaving pubic hair would have avoided all of this so none of it would have happened.

Sex Appeal

As we discussed in above under Trends, sex appeal is somewhat based current trends. Think about it. In the 70s, bush was trendy and everyone loved it. Super sex appeal.

Nowadays it’s not trendy, and people will get turned off by it. Simple enough right?

A bit of information for the lads who want to increase their sex appeal, is to trim the hair quite short because by simple perspective it will make you look a lot bigger. Shaving off all the pubic hair would work even better.

Seriously, this is true and once again is a little trick from the adult film industry. Seriously these guys know what they're doing. Give it a try, but be careful. And be really careful when you shave your balls. Over time and with the right equipment/supplies you will get the hang of it – it's a bit of an art really. You may want to do this bit yourself unless you really trust your partner doing it.

For the ladies, sex appeal can be attained with just a nice trim with a shave to tidy up around the edges. Or a full on shave can be a turn on for some people. Other services available if you want something more are getting designs like a love heart for Valentines Day, a landing strip, or similar. If you're good you could do them yourself or you can always get one done at your local beauty salon.

Adult Films

With all this reference to the adult film industry, it makes sense that one reason that you would want to shave down there is because you would like to or already do work in the adult film industry. Online, this industry is huge and is growing rapidly with greater numbers of people going on the internet. Whether this is good is debatable but a lot of people are making that move and need to get their downstairs hairs sorted out.

With the evolution of more and more high tech video equipment for the home consumer, home made videos are becoming more and more popular. And as in any type of video, you want to look your best.

This is not necessarily happening for distribution on the internet, although a lot of people do upload their videos for others to watch. Others do them for a bit of private fun.

NOTE: If you do this make sure you do not leave them in a place where someone can find them and put them online. Especially if you’re famous. Just look at Paris Hilton, Pamela and Tommy Lee, and Kim Kardashian. I bet they wish they kept their tapes hidden away! However, if you have seen these videos, note the absence of wild bush, so shaving pubic hair is something these ladies engage in.

Enjoying Sex

A lot of people believe that sex is a lot better without all that annoying hair getting in the way. As well as the aesthetic and more hygienic appeal as above, which would enhance the experience, there is also the practical reason that a long bush will simply get in the way – ladies, men have enough trouble finding things as it is! Make it easier!

There is also the disgusting image of having a hair caught somewhere in your mouth… enough said. Don’t worry, it can be easily avoided! How? Shaving pubic hair off of course!

Your Job

I wouldn’t imagine that many jobs have shaving pubic hair as a requirement, but if yours does then obviously you need to get on with it. Some jobs such as swimsuit models, lingerie and underwear models, dancers, strippers, adult film stars, swimmers, superheroes, and people who work at salons that need to try out their products. Shaving pubic hair here is for professional reasons so they look their best on TV or wherever.

Disease

This is not a very nice reason, but unfortunately it is on the list. There are various diseases that humans can be infected by; some of them involve body hair falling out. It may be the case that half of your pubes have come out and to make yourself look healthier or to feel better, you decide to give shaving pubic hair a go.

It may be that you are due for surgery in that area and you need to remove the hair. Or a worse scenario, you may have an STD or something such as pubic lice. Removing all the hair around that area destroys any chances of the affliction surviving, so with the aid of your treatment you can hopefully get rid of whatever ailment you have.
