Applying Shaving Cream
Why shaving cream? Considering that you are going to be gliding a razor sharp metal blade along your face, it makes sense that the blade can glide along as easily as possible. For this, your face needs to be well lubricated. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of different products that you can use for this purpose.
Shaving cream is by far the most popular thing to use and with good reason. There are plenty of excellent products to choose from with a wide range of sizes, prices, and scents.
Whether you decide on cream, foam, soap or gel applying them to your face is pretty much the same.
With a Shaving Brush
The best way to apply is to use a shaving brush. I know, you will hardly see anyone using these as they seem quite old fashioned, but they are very effective. Using one of these will enable you to build up a much better lather, keep your hands a bit cleaner, and most importantly it will help to lift up the hairs so they are standing on end.
To apply, put the cream into your hand and dip in the brush. In a circular motion, apply it to your face, ensuring you get it lathered up nicely. Use water if you need to. Continue this over your beard and moustache area.
Without a Shaving Brush / With Your Hands
Most people do not have a brush (which they should!) so using your hands is the next best way.
To apply, put the cream into your hand and use the other hand to dip in and apply to your face, again in a circular motion. Ensure you cover the entire shaving area.
Either way you choose you should be fully lathered up by now and ready to get out the razor!
